Medicine

A short history of medicine:

I have an earache.

2000 B.C. - Here, eat this root.

1000 A.D. - That root is heathen; say this chant.

1850 A.D. - That chant is superstition; drink this potion.

1940 A.D. - That potion is snake oil; swallow this pill.

1985 A.D. - That pill is ineffective; take this antibiotic.

2000 A.D. - That antibiotic has dangerous side effects. Here, eat this
root.

1 It's so true, the medical profession still is a lot of trial and error. Reminds me of the looney left and their global cooling then their global warming, depends on which way the wind is blowing while they're setting on the fence. Happy New Year Delfts.

5 My father has ardently shunned doctors his whole life and now, in his 70s, he's the healthiest man I know.
