Even after the fact; remember that the insurgents Islamofacists threatened that the act of voting itself could invite retribution against the participant, not necessarily just at the polls, but at any time after. And dying a finger blue made them obvious targets, but millions of Iraqis, in effect, told the Islamofacists to "go to hell" and publicly showed their joy in their new found franchise. Literally dancing in the streets, waving their blue stained digits in the air.
