JUST RAMBLIN'

The late great Acidman used to say that there were three kinds of bloggers:Thinkers, Linkers, and Stinkers. He was a Thinker. I really miss the man, the blogworld lost one of the truly great ones when he passed. I just hope he was proved wrong about his views of there not being an afterlife and he's looking down on us with great amusement as we fumble our way through this thing called life.

Lately I've been more of a ([REALLY]Stinking) Linker than anything. Just don't have the energy to really get into a serious rant. Nothing seems to really catch my fancy enough to raise any ire other than the pure IDIOCY that is Barrack "Hopey McChange" Obama's campaign. Even there, the only thing that really gets to me is: how the F**K ANYBODY can take this candidate with any seriousness whatsoever.

NEVER have we had anyone LESS qualified to even think of RUNNING for POTUS, much less being the nominee for one of the two major Parties.
Can anyone supporting him please try to explain it to me?

Tell me WHY you support BHO; WHAT are his stands on the issues? He states that he will Change our way of life, but he never says HOW he will accomplish those changes and, indeed, just WHAT those changes will be . He says he represents a "New HOPE"...but just WHAT in his past achievements can he point to to demonstrate that he can deliver on such an ephemeral promise? Just ONE thing. Name ONE bill he has sponsored, or even just co-sponsored, that has helped anyone. Name one position that he hasn't changed with the varying necessities of campaign needs.

In my mind Barrack Obama is nothing less than the consummate Politician with every negative connotation of that title and none of the possible (though admittedly rare) positive ones. An empty suit of promises, coupled with a dangerous naivete of REAL world Politics equaling the most dangerous combination that (possibly will) ever sit in the Oval Office.

John McVain isn't that much better in some respects, except that he DOES have real world experience, even if he sometimes seems to act as if he doesn't care about what is real and goes with his Fweelings more that you'd think a person of such experience(s) would. But at least he is somewhat more realistic on what may or not may be accomplished.

What is one to do when presented with the choice of BAD and WORSE? Rewarding Bad with election only encourages more of the same; electing WORSE may just mean the end of our Republic as we know it. I know that sounds rather melodramatic, but I believe it to be a real danger. The attitude that "it can't happen here" leads directly to it ACTUALLY HAPPENING.

There was another historical would-be leader that promised Change and a New Hope for the Electorate; who promised cradle to grave Health Care provided by the State. He promised the best new Infrastructure in Europe. He promised a new sense of dignity for the Country. He promised new jobs for thousands of people. UNLIKE Hopey, he made SPECIFIC promises on EXACTLY what he would do, once he gained the reins of power.

He DID everything that he had promised to do, and more:

1)He created the first truly great system of roads ever seen since the Roman era.

2)He pulled an economy out of a 500+% inflation rate in less than five years.

3)He unified a defeated people into a single minded State that was effective in working towards it's goals, both Internally and in (at least initially) the International Arena.

Here is a picture of this paragon of Hope and Change:

Photobucket

Do we REALLY want to follow his example? Many people warned of the danger that he represented and were told "such things can't happen here; we're too civilized" History proved those people against him correct....it only took 5+ years of World War, with 52+ million people dead and the destruction of the social fabric of the world to provide that proof.

With current weapons technology, we can't experience such an event again and survive as a species.

ALLWAYS keep in mind, it CAN happen here; it requires constant vigilance to ensure that it DOESN'T. To think that it CAN'T is the first step towards sinking back into that evil morass yet again.

2 I think Bill needs to come down from his derangement syndrom. With that said, I too am very skeptical of anyone who promises change. Paul Pot, Uncle Joe Stalin, Adolf, Hugo Chavez & Mao all promised/promise change. Well they did bring it. Change can be a bad thing if you look at the likes of the formentioned ilk. I can't see for the life of me why this country is buying all this crap. Has it gotten so bad with our society that we actually believe the crap that these Politicians are saying? are we a bumper sticker, 30 minute attention span, can't think for ourselves group of nincompoops? Acording to the "insult my intelligence media" I guess we are. 22 years of service an I see we are becoming the exact society I served to proitect my nation from. Herkeng

3 BILL, I don't know WHERE in the hell you get that I'm such a Bush fan from anything I wrote in this post; and I SPECIFICALLY stated that I didn't feel that John McVain was all that much better. "projection" much? I don't give a DAMN about a "fresh face", I care about what the person demonstrably STANDS for. NEITHER candidate is all that good in my own view, and I despair that we have sunk so low in the quality of our would-be leaders. As I said in my post, give me ONE reason I should consider BHO that isn't "he isn't Bush". Tell me exactly what BHO really stands for (that he hasn't chenged at least twice already) and exactly WHAT changes does he think to bring about? Seems you are a prime example of BDS. Your unreasoning hatred is clouding your judgement and discernment if you can honestly believe that BHO is actually qualified for even a Governorship, much less POTUS.

4 Thank you for your Service, HERKENG. Yes, it does seem that we've become a nation obsessed with sound bites that are much more style rather than substance. I'm sorry for people like BILL that have drunk that Kool-Aid, but even more, I fear that too many have done so and will actually put a far Left fringe case such as Obama in office.... The fact the Right puts up a jackass like McVain shows that the idiocy falls from BOTH sides of the aisle. So what are those of us still sane supposed to do? I think the time we'll have to water the roots of the Tree of Liberty is fast approaching. Lay in ammo NOW. We both took an oath to defend America from enemies both foreign AND DOMESTIC, I'm sure you take that oath as seriously as I do. I still consider myself bound by it as I ever was while on active duty over thirty years ago.

5 Delfsman As a USAF retiree and being born in Holland (Den Haag) I have and still do enjoy your blog. I have been coming to your site for a few years now and have been made to laugh at the jokes and to think by the commentary. I appreciate your candor and have no respect for people like bILL. As for this election season, well I don't like either party anymore. The Donks have left the bluce collar folks behind and have "Moved ON" to the Maosist, Marxist trustfunder types that our schools of higher learning have produced. The Elephants have forgotten how to have balls and stand up for the what the party was founded on by Lincoln and made great by Teddy Roosevelt. Instead I see a party that has bought into the great American sell off. they don't give a rats behind for the jobs we have lost & manufacturing capabilities we have given to overseas markets. We are quickly declining as a independent nation. I guess that is what the powers that be (republican and democrat) wanted with this "globalism." One Bummed out Taxpaying Vetran Herkeng

6 I agree that BOTH parties have, in essence, deserted the electorate, the unfortunate thing is that there are really no viable "third choice" Parties to rein the big two in...the Libertarians are the closest, and I agree with the great bulk of their stands, but then they come up with crap like having totally open borders, and as (legal) immigrants ourselves, I'm sure you'll agree with me that such a policy would immediatly destroy what is left of our beloved adopted Republic. I've been looking into the Constitution Party, but they are too small to be anywhere near a viable political force in any near forseeable future...
