If, like me, you take that oath as seriously today as you did on the day you made it, it is your RESPONSIBILITY to do what you can to preserve our Republic as the Founders intended it to be.
WE have been far too lax in our vigilance; there are enemies both at the gates, and even more shamefully, WITHIN those gates, that are doing their best to take our Republic away from us.
It is up to US to defeat their attempts at all costs.
We owe it to our posterity, and we owe it to our honor.
The Republic may still fall; all human institutions eventually do, BUT:

Well, the move to the new quarters has been successfully accomplished....sort of. As in all moves, it will take a month or two before most of the boxes are unpacked and the contents placed in their new assigned places.
The great news is that we finally really have all the space we need for the amount of crap we own; in fact we can buy a little more crap to add to the mess, if our checking account ever recovers from the cost of the movers.
The estimator hit it right on the button...10 hrs @ $110. an hr = $ 1,100.
From past experience with this company, we had thought we might be able to 'git-er-done' in 8 hrs., but alas, it was only 6 minutes shy of a full ten hours before the last box was placed in the garage. I have no complaints, the movers didn't dawdle at any time, with no damage to any item, and they were full of good humor despite the heavy loads they were expected to safely move and place in ridiculously tight spaces.
Kudos to Two Men and a Truck, if you are in the central Indiana area and need a dependable company, I highly recommend them, and if you would, tell them I sent them your way? Maybe I can get them to advertise here.

Sorry about the sparse posting, but it can't be helped. Beth and I are moving on short notice due to circumstances we had no control over.
The silver lining is that the new house has twice the room and is in a better neighborhood, for not a lot more in rent; we will also have the option to buy after 6 months. The cloud is that we have to get everything packed (to Beth's specifications, and let me tell ya, ANY moving company would be impressed with her standards!!!). You never realize how much you've collected until you try to pack it and move it.
Also, one of our cars picked this exact time to go belly up, causing great panic about the feasibility of funding everything that needed it.
The expenses keep mounting and the stock market keeps dropping, so it's situation normal.
Moving day is set to begin at 0845 on Monday, March 16. The computer will get disconnected the day before the move and probably not be reconnected until two to three days after the move, so no posting in that period.

themselves. Police do not protect you from crime; they usually just
investigate the crime after it happens and then call someone in to
clean up the mess. (Having been a LEO with twelve years on the streets, I can personally attest to this.)
Remember: the average response time to a 911 call is over 4 minutes.
The average response time of a 357 magnum is 1400 FPS. (feet per
second)
Personally, I carry a gun because I'm too young to die and too
old to take an ass whoopin.

As quacks go, he's a real prince among the usual frogs of the profession.
He had some good news and some bad news. My blood pressures are still holding steady at only slightly above "normal", so no changes in the meds for now....then came the sledgehammer...seems my blood sugars are averaging over 450 and my last A1C was 8.4...so the pills weren't doing the job, and I have to start an Insulin regimen...I have to start with 10 units a night and increase it 3 to 5 units every Friday until my morning fasting tests average 130 or below.
BUMMER!
See, I have this little problem with needles, I don't merely dislike them, they are one of the two major phobias I have (the other is heights).
Yes, I know Insulin needles are ultra fine, and don't really cause any real discomfort, much less real pain, but the reason they call them phobias is because they are totally unreasonable reaction(s) to a certain stimuli.
Well, I self administered my first injection at 2300 hrs. Only took me three minutes to build up the nerve to plunge the needle in my thigh.... Totally NO real pain whatsoever...but the resulting nervous reaction lasted over twenty minutes...shaking like an Aspen tree in an Oklahoma prairie wind; sweating and gasping like a marathoner just off a major race.
Yep, this regimen is gonna be real fun all right. I can only hope repetition will cause the overreactions to diminish with familiarity over time.
It's highly embarrassing to have to admit to such a piddly fear with all the REAL terror and pain going on in every day the world, but it's very real to me. I will overcome this mini-dragon that has entered my life. I really have no choice, after all. Sounds melodramatic, but it really is a matter of life and death.
Maybe I'll tackle that fear of high places while I'm at it...taking an injection while balancing on a tall pole, that would make the injection seem minor to the danger of going "splat"!
My next appoint is scheduled on , you guessed it, Friday, March 13..Doc has a real sense of humor..I just hope that it won't be more unlucky news on that day.

who has been with us for many years.
No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.
He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as: Knowing when to come in out of the rain; why the early bird gets the worm; Life isn't always fair; and maybe it was my fault.
Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend
more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in
charge).
His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but
overbearing regulations were set in place.
Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.
Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job
that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.
It declined even further when schools were required to get parental
consent to administer sun lotion or an Aspirin to a student; but
could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to
have an abortion.
Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses;and
criminals received better treatment than their victims.
Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a
burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.
Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed
to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in
her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement..
Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust; his
wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason. He is
survived by his 4 stepbrothers; I Know My Rights, I Want It Now, Someone Else
Is To Blame, and I'm A Victim.
Too few people today knew him, and we are are much the lesser for that.
Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone. If you
still remember him, pass this on. If not, join the majority and do nothing.'

So here it is, Superbowl Sunday. The Significant Other is settling into her yearly ritual of gathering the comestibles and beverages around her prior to watching the contest of well-padded, overpaid, overpampered behemoths slug it out over possession of a defenceless ovoid of inflated pig skin.
I don't even know what teams are competing this year (did I mention that I'm not a sports fan?) I do know that it's being played in Tampa this year, so at least there won't be any chance of snow interfering with the plays (assuming Al Bore doesn't attend the game; snow seems to follow him everywhere he goes..talk about a 'cool' character!)
This year TLOML will be able to enjoy the game on our new 42" flatscreen TV; just maybe she'll finally ackowledge that bigger IS better in TV 's.
I don't mind that she takes control of the remote this one day of the year, even though it goes against all my male instincts...and watching the small screen in the bedroom makes me appreciate the flat screen all the more.
I think I'll retire to the bedroom and watch a DVD...or shovel the snow from the walkway before the postman slips on my walk and sues me.
Hold on, I just learned Teh One is rooting for the Steelers; GO Cardinals!

Health issues and some personal problems just get priority over yelling into the wilderness.
I watched a little bit of the Inauguration of the (A)obomaNation, Lord help us all.
I really HOPE that Mr. Obama surprises me and turns out to be a good President, but some of the remarks in his Inauguration speech indicates the CHANGE he wishes to institute will be the death of the Republic and the beginning of the new American Oligarchy.
The similarities between the present day and the beginning of the fall of the Roman Republic into the tyranny of the Roman Empire are just too chilling to be comfortable for anyone that believes in personal Liberty. It seems that it really is true that those that don't learn history really are doomed to repeat it.
I'm just going to try to hide among the sheeple and see if I survive the coming storm until the time comes to throw off the disguise and attempt in some small way to be one of the sheepdogs trying to return the Nation back to Liberty.

Well, another Christmas Eve has passed , and in the tradition of all the years past in my life, we spent it with my family; sadly, for the first time in my life, my mother and father couldn't make the trip down to be with us due to inclement weather and a balky car. It made for a different experience, but nevertheless a happy one.
With the current economic conditions there were far less presents than in times past, but there was at least SOMETHING for everyone present; maybe not large and certainly not expensive (in all but two cases)but it certainly led credence to the truth that it is the thought that matters most, not the cost.
For myself, I received the THE finest present that I have ever had. As much as I love my eldest daughter, our differing attitudes toward politics and the Military has always been a source of contention between us. We just honestly differ greatly on our basic outlooks on life, she being a true "Progressive" type and I being a staunch believer in individualism and the smallest government possible.
Bearing that in mind, when I saw the following in the card she gave to Beth and I; I was truly moved and so damned proud of the fine woman my daughter has become.
This is what the enclosure in the Christmas card said:
Dear Dad and Beth,
Although we're all struggling in tough economic times,we realize how amazingly blessed we are to have everything we need and much of what we want. In this spirit, we've decided this year to fore go buying tangible presents and instead share our blessings by donating to causes that represent the interests and passions of each family. With your dedicated support of the United States Military in mind, we've made a donation in your honor to the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization that supports soldiers seriously injured in the service of their country. We love you both very much and wish you a very Merry Christmas and healthy and prosperous New Year !
Love,
Erin & Joanna
While neither my daughter nor my Ex are anti-military, they do possess the Progressive mindset and wouldn't normally consider contributing to such an organization, so the fact that they did so because of MY passions for such a group means that they truly gave real thought to what I like even in the face of their own inclinations, and isn't that truly what a REAL Christmas gift is all about?
Consideration of the other and not the Self; I am truly Blessed to have such wonderful people in my life.
I am going to frame that insert and display it prominently in my office to remind myself that, while we may differ in outlook, my daughter and I can agree to disagree on some things and still get along well with each other.
I hope everyone of you had as good a Christmas Eve as Beth and I did and we both wish all of you the very best wishes in the coming New Year.
Merry Christmas!

It is with great sadness that I have to announce a death in the family.
It causes no less grief that it was one of the animal members.
When BethA got home from work she checked on her beloved companion of the last twelve years, a great Tuxedo cat named Asia. Asia hadn't felt well for the last several days, but at 2300 Hrs tonight he took a turn for the worse and we decided to take him to the local 24 hr Vet hospital to try to see if there was anything to be done.....two x-rays and a period of time in an oxygen tank later, it was determined the he was in heart failure, and although there was a course of treatment to be given; it was to the tune of $2500.00 for the initial course and continuing treatments that could only delay the inevitable, with no guarantee that the quality of his life would be anywhere near pain free.
So at 0315 hrs this morning the Vet sent our beloved Asia into a comfortable eternal sleep. Beth was holding him in her arms as he passed and it was peaceful.
I am not a cat person by any means but I was hard put to hold it together for Beth's sake, We have lost a true friend and close companion.
It may be difficult for non-pet people to understand, but it truly is like the loss of an immediate family member.
Still, when I count my blessings when sitting down for the Thanksgiving feast, I will be grateful that we did the right thing and put Asia out of his pain.

One simple question:
"If you really believe that the U.S. is turning into a police state,
why do you want to deprive the people of the one tool that the
founding fathers provided for just that purpose, namely, resisting
tyranny?" (emp. mine- D)
