Holy Frankenmeat Batman! Seems that researchers believe it may soon be possible to "grow" meat products indistinguishable in taste and texture from the "natural" thing on a commercial scale within the next ten to twenty years.

I grew up with the "soymeat factories" of science fiction, so the idea isn't that outlandish to me. The fact that it is "real" MEAT rather than a plant protien flavored to resemble meat makes it all the more palatable to me. I'm a huge carnivore type eater, so this comes as good news to me.

I don't know if it will be the same as "chewing off the bone", but then, we all have to make some sacrifices in the interest of "Mother Gaia", don't we?

One thing I find amusing is that it would remove one of the main objections of the vegatarians, we would no longer be "inhumanely exploiting" our fellow creatures. And with the manipulation of the types of fatty acids produced being possible in "frankenmeat", it would make it actually make meat a lot healthier to consume, not to mention the vast reduction in agricultural pollution that could be gained.
It even helps in the goal of reducing oil consumption. Sounds like a winner of an idea all around;now if they can just solve that problem of the caveman in us liking the experience of gnawing the meat off of a well cooked rib or chicken leg bone......

A woman decides to have a facelift for her 50th birthday.

She spends $5,000 and feels pretty good about the results.

On her way home she stops at a news stand to buy a newspaper.

They wait in silence on the empty street until curiosity gets the
best of her. She finally blurts out, "What the hell, go ahead."

He slips both of his hands under her blouse and begins to feel
around very slowly and carefully. He bounces and weighs each
breast...He gently pinches each nipple. He pushes her breasts together and rubs them against each other.

After a couple of minutes of this, she says, "Okay,
okay...How old am I?" He completes one last squeeze of her breasts,
removes his hands, and says. " Madam, you are 50."

Stunned and amazed, the woman says, "That was incredible, how could you
tell?'

The old man replies, "promise you won't get mad?"

"I promise I won't." she says.

He replies, "I was behind you in line at McDonald's".

On this, the fourth anniversary of one of the most heinious crimes ever committed, I find that words fail me to really express what I'm feeling.

So much has happened, and so many seem to have forgotton that dark day and what it portended; instead they continually bleat their favorite meme-o-the-day and do their best to attack our President,and aid the enemy by lowering the morale of our troops.

All I can hope is that there are still enough people that have THIS attitude towards those that would do us harm:

While perusing the posts at His Most Viciousness, Emperor Darth Misha 1, I realized in reading the comments that one of the Loyal Citizens of the Empire had managed to abscond with some notes from the DNC BashBush Spin Council™. (if Sandy Berger can do it so can we!)

I thought that they deserved to be broadcast to a wider audience, so I stole borowed them to put up here (beats writing my own satire, anyway ).

CONFIDENTIAL
(LetÂ’s keep this just between us)

It is now just ten days since Katrina struck the Gulf coast. Untold thousands of the poor and downtrodden members of society died in this catastrophe while hundreds of thousands more languish in temporary shelters across this nation. But all ready something ugly and vile is threatening our ability to capitalize on this human tragedy.
Recently it has become apparent to me that certain rogue elements in the mainstream media, as well as cable news and Internet Bloggers are determined to derail our righteous efforts to destroy the Bush Administration by deliberately and recklessly reporting the facts.
I cannot stress this enough; we cannot, we must not, we will not allow the facts to get between us and what we know to our very core, is right.
Here is what I see as some of our biggest hurdles and some solutions:

1.Lt. General Honore. This charismatic and capable African-American must be discredited immediately! This Race-traitorÂ’s continued and fervent defense of the Federal response must not be allowed to continue. He must quickly and effectively be painted with the same brush we have used on Condaloser Rice and Collin (clever epithet not currently available) Powell. I recommend we put Al and Jesse on this ASAP.

2.We must, with all due haste, ratchet up our Rhetoric and disinformation machine. Remember, a half-truth in our favor is morally superior to the actual truth if it favors or enemies. Example: The USS Bataan, a Navy hospital ship, to this day sits off the coast of New Orleans with hundreds of empty hospital beds! It in no way helps our cause to mention that the reason for this is that as early as last Tuesday the Medical personnel were move into the city where they could do the most good.

3.A Total lie in our favor is also morally superior to a truth that benefits our enemies. Example: Randall Robinson posted an article in The Huffington Post in which he stated that it had been reported that “ black survivors had begun eating corpses to survive”. The ONLY thing Randal did wrong was to post this morally superior article a mere four days after the tragedy. Had he waited, he may not have had to retract it.

Which brings me to my final and most important point.

4.Race, race, race, race, race! This is our strongest and most easily defensible weapon. Remember, Racism never has to be proved, only alleged. Kudos to Kanye, Diddy, Jayzee, Al, Jesse, and all the rest. Now is not the time to rest on our laurels. As more and more facts come to light we need to fight back and hammer those racist bastards mercilessly. If the artificially maintained racial divide in this country is ever healed we are completely screwed as a movement.

Well thatÂ’s a start folks. Its time to roll up our sleeves and get to work. Obfuscation and misrepresentation are not easy tasks, but it beats having to actually be right, and they are our best weapon against the racist, warmongering, puppy killing, Nazi Right.

Yesterday, I linked to a first hand account of the heroic job being done by the relief workers by a C-130 driver in the position to observe it.

But now I have found a link to a truly astonishing story of human compassion and a response to the "call of duty" that far exceeds the bounds of anything that can be expected from anyone.

John says:"And one very important note. I am not a hero, I am just a person who believes you sometimes have to do what you feel is right."

Well John, you are wrong. You ARE a hero in every sense of the word.

"Doing the right thing" is being honorable in your dealings with others, and helping a neigbor when he needs it is part of that, but going 1,000 miles into a horribly dangerous area ( both from natural causes and "human" vermin) to help people you have never met, at your own expense,"breaking" the law to do it;and doing it despite great pain and risk of futhur injury on your part......THAT is heroism with a CAPITOL "H".

My fondest wish is to someday shake your hand and express my awe/humility/and gratitude at your actions in person.

Dems Used Katrina to Raise Funds

Everytime you think they can't go any lower. They lower the bar even further..

"Sen. Charles Schumer , a New York Democrat and the head of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, issued an appeal Thursday urging people to sign an online petition to fire the Federal Emergency Management Agency's director over his handling of the Katrina response."

Fair enough, redress of government ineptitude is part of our rights enumerated in the Constitution, indeed it is our responsiblity as citizens of a republic to hold our government accountable for it's actions and/or inactions.

BUT
"When recipients clicked on a link to the petition, the top center of the screen — above the call to "Fire the FEMA director" — they were asked for a donation to the DSCC."

The DSCC has since stated that any funds raised by the page would be donated to the Red Cross; and then pulled down the page.

To use a natural disaster on the scale of Katrina as a source for raising campaign funds truly demonstrates the TRUE measure of the Party of Caring©.
Notice that when they were called on it, they immediatly pulled down the page, wouldn't want the Prols to waste all that campaign money on disaster relief, after all, now would they? Bad enough the funds thus far collected were used so! /

I've come to expect cynical hypocrasy from both parties, but it does seem that the DemocRats have the corner on the market of the most blatent forms.

Too bad that the sheeple won't remember the little things like this by the time the next election rolls around.

With all the partisan back biting and wails of crocodile anguish coming through the MSM, reading a first hand account of the Herculian efforts being made by the relief personnel is truly refreshing. If you read that post and don't get a swelling of pride in your chest and a tear in your eye, I don't want to know you.

It's people like "SASless" that are the bearers of the real American spirit. As long as we have enough people like him, this country will survive the "useless idiots" that seem to be incapable of doing anything more than railing against the darkness and trying to blame everyone that doesn't join them in their theatrical display of anguish.

I put the entire post under the fold just to preclude any chance of losing the link, but I would prefer that you read it at the original site so that you could add your own thoughts where SASless might see them.

Here's just a taste:

IS Bush to blame for the flooding in New Orleans? Chck out Fact Check.org for the answer.
In a nutshell, the report concludes that even though funding had been cut back, EVEN if the proposed projects ( and they weren't sheduled to be completed untill 2015)had all been completed, Katrina would have still overwhelmed the defenses.

The situation has been known for decades, by both local and federal officials. The fact is, there is a finite amount of funds availible, and the STATE officials have the final say on how federal funds received are used. Note to Liberals: you hate the Patriot Act as an usurption of power by the federal govt. (with some just cause); remember that aversion against Federalism when examining this matter. The STATE had the say on where/how funds were spent on water projects, because of regulations limiting Federal authority over local issues. As they SHOULD be limited.

That authority was MISUSED by the state and local authorities:

In Katrina's wake, Louisiana politicians and other critics have complained about paltry funding for the Army Corps in general and Louisiana projects in particular. But over the five years of President Bush's administration, Louisiana has received far more money for Corps civil works projects than any other state, about $1.9 billion; California was a distant second with less than $1.4 billion, even though its population is more than seven times larger.Much of that Louisiana money was spent to try to keep low-lying New Orleans dry. But hundreds of millions of dollars have gone to unrelated water projects demanded by the state's congressional delegation and approved by the Corps, often after economic analyses that turned out to be inaccurate. Despite a series of independent investigations criticizing Army Corps construction projects as wasteful pork-barrel spending, Louisiana's representatives have kept bringing home the bacon.

For example, after a $194 million deepening project for the Port of Iberia flunked a Corps cost-benefit analysis, Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La., tucked language into an emergency Iraq spending bill ordering the agency to redo its calculations. The Corps also spends tens of millions of dollars a year dredging little-used waterways like the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet, the Atchafalaya River and the Red River -- now known as the J. Bennett Johnston Waterway, in honor of the project's congressional godfather -- for barge traffic that turns out to be less than forecast.

In the forthcoming investigations that will occur, lets see just how much responsibility/blame accrues to all the parties concerned. That some will accrue to President Bush, I have no doubt, and he'll have to answer for that, but I believe that an honest investigation will determine that the LA state/NOcity officials bear the lions share of responsiblity. Look at the funds provided, and look how they were used, and I think Bush will come out (relatively) "clean" in this tragedy.

Unlike the fine efforts of such luminaries as Kanye West ,Celine Dion,Angelina Jolie, and Sean Penn,; John Travolta and his wife Kelly Preston show us TRUE aid for the victoms. Mr. Travolta and his wife flew in over five tons of food and vaccines in his private plane, aided monitarily by Ophra Winfrey.

And I'm proud to say that a hometown hero, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning, and his brother Eli, of the New York Giants, were in Baton Rouge over the weekend distributing more than 14kt of emergency supplies, including diapers and bottled water.

I would ask one thing to those that say the media ISN'T biased against President Bush and take note of the coverage given between those that have nothing but Bushhate, and those like Travolta and Peyton that have rolled up their sleeves and contributed in MEANINGFUL ways to the relief efforts.

In the meantime, I give my utmost respect for these public people that have the means, and are using them for the greater good.

Norman and his blonde wife live in Calgary.

One winter morning while listening to the radio, they hear the announcer say, "We are going to have 8 to 10 centimeters of snow today. You must park your car on the even numbered side of the street, so the snowplow can get through."

Norman's wife goes out and moves her car.

A week later while they are eating breakfast, the radio announcer

Little Georgie watched his daddy's car pass by the school playground
& go into the woods. Curious, he followed the car and saw Daddy & Aunt Jane in a passionate embrace.

Little Georgie found this so exciting that he could not contain himself as he ran home & started to tell his mother, "Mommy, I was at the playground & I saw Daddy's car go into the woods with Aunt Jane. I went back to look & he was giving Aunt Jane a big kiss, then he helped her take off her shirt. Then Aunt Jane helped Daddy take his pants off, then Aunt Jane........"

At this point Mommy cut him off & said, "Georgie, this is such an
interesting story, suppose you save the rest of it for supper time.
I want to see the look on Daddy's face when you tell it tonight!"

At the dinner table, Mommy asked little Georgie to tell his story.

Georgie started his story, "I was at the playground & I saw Daddy's
car go into the woods with Aunt Jane. I went back to look & he was
giving Aunt Jane a big kiss, then he helped her take off her shirt. Then
Aunt Jane helped Daddy take his pants off, then Aunt Jane & Daddy started
doing the same thing that Mommy & Uncle Bill used to do when Daddy
was in the Army."

Moral: Sometimes you need to listen to the whole story before you interrupt.

I disagree with Mr. Levy, although I can see how he may get that impression as an outsider looking in. I would posit that it is not race that is the determining factor, but the attitude; an attitude engendered by generations of people that have existed on the government largesse provided in a misguided attempt to provide an equality of outcome not merited by an inequality of effort. An attitude that government is there to provide for their every need or want.

The largess doesn't provide true equality of outcome, a fact most obvious to the recipiants, but it's just enough to provide for an artificial civility as long as the level is sufficient to exist fairly well without much effort, with the threat of loss of that largesse if you don't toe the government line. So what happens when government breaks down? You see the anarchy that prevails in New Orleans.

The news is all focused on New Orleans, but the fact is that there are areas that have been even harder hit by Hurricane Katrina, and the people in those areas aren't rioting/looting/robbing on anywhere near the scale we've seen in the city.
They are too busy trying to survive, and helping their neighbors to survive, to be out scouting for a new plasma screen tv.
Many of these people are just as poor and just as Black, the difference is, they have a sense of individual worth, not governmental dependence.

I feel sorry for "True Blue", I can't IMAGINE the strain it must be to stay in character as well as she does. I mean writing the memes are easy, all you have to do is read/watch any MSM outlet and you'll know the meme du jour, but to maintain the fiction as convincingly as she does that these are her true thoughts and opinions as well is truly is truly the mark of an excellant fiction writer.
