I sat in my seat of the Boeing 767 waiting foreveryone to hurry and stow their carry-ons and grab a seat so we could start what I was sure to be a
long , uneventful flight home. With the huge capacity and slow moving people taking their time to stuff luggage far too big for the overhead and never paying much attention to holding up the growing line behind them, I simply shook my head knowing that this flight was not starting out very well.
I was anxious to get home to see my loved ones so I was focused on
"my" issues and just felt like standing up and yelling for some of these clowns to
get their act together. I knew I couldn't say a word so I just thumbed thru the "Sky Mall" magazine from the seat pocket in front of me. You know it's really
getting rough when you resort to the over priced, useless sky mall crap to break the monotony.
With everyone finally seated, we just sat there with the cabin door open and no one in any hurry to get us going although we were well past the scheduled take off time. No wonder the airline industry is in trouble I told myself. Just then, the
attendant came on the intercom to inform us all that we were being delayed.
The entire plane let out a collective groan. She resumed speaking to say
"We are holding the aircraft for some very special people who are on
their way to the plane and the delay shouldn't be more than 5 minutes."
The word came after waiting six times as long as we were promised that "I" was finally going to be on my way home. Why the hoopla over "these" folks?
I was expecting some celebrity or sport figure to be the reason for the
hold up.........Just get their butts in a seat and lets hit the gas I thought.
The attendant came back on the speaker to announce in a loud and
excited voice that we were being joined by several U. S. Marines returning
home from Iraq!!! Just as they walked on board, the entire plane erupted
into applause. The men were a bit taken by surprise by the 340 people
cheering for them as they searched for their seats. They were
having their hands shook and touched by almost everyone who was within an arm's distance of them as they passed down the aisle.
One elderly woman kissed the hand of one of the Marines as he passed
by her. The applause, whistles and cheering didn't stop for a long time.
When we were finally airborne, "I" was not the only civilian checking his conscience as to the delays in "me" getting home, finding my easy chair, a cold
beverage and the remote in my hand. These men had done for all of us
and I had been complaining silently about "me" and "my" issues. I took for
granted the everyday freedoms I enjoy and the conveniences of the American way of life.
I took for granted others paid the price for my ability to moan and complain about a few minutes delay to "me" those Heroes going home to their loved ones.
I attempted to get my selfish outlook back in order and minutes before we landed I suggested to the attendant that she announce over the speaker a
request for everyone to remain in their seats until our hero's were allowed to gather their things and be first off the plane.
The cheers and applause continued until the last Marine stepped off and we
all rose to go about our too often taken for granted everyday freedoms......... I felt proud of them. I felt it an honor and a privilege to be among the first to welcome them home and say Thank You for a job well done. I vowed that I will never forget that flight nor the lesson learned. I can't say it enough, THANK YOU to those Veterans and active servicemen and women who may read this and a prayer for those who cannot because they are no longer with us.
GOD BLESS AMERICA! WELCOME HOME!
AND THANKS FOR A JOB WELL DONE !!!!!
This is a ribbon for soldiers fighting in Iraq.
Pass it on to everyone and pray.

How long will Hamas honor the truce? The real pity is that, no matter how many honest men of good will on both sides try to hammer out an equitable peace settlement; all it takes is one rabid jackass to derail the entire process.

Here's a taste:
EVERYTHING THAT HAS BEEN WRONG with the Democrats in the past several years was on vivid display during Hell Week: the teeth-grinding shrillness; the race card, misplayed with such gusto; the self-interest so blatant it defeats its own purpose; the crippling dearth of ideas. With a few brave exceptions (a faction of one named Joe Lieberman), the Democrats split into two major camps: the wingnuts--Dean, Boxer, and Kennedy--who know what they think, which alas sets them at odds with the rest of the country; and the caucus of cowards--Bayh, Edwards, and Kerry--who believe in nothing so much as their own career prospects, and change their minds on the gravest of war and peace issues on the basis of what serves their ends.
She sums it all up nicely in this paragraph (emphasis mine):
And there you have the real vision gap between the two parties: Republicans want to win wars and spread freedom; Democrats want to save their rear ends. Bush thinks freedom is better than terror and tyranny; Democrats think they themselves are better than Bush. In 2004, Bush made it clear he was willing to lose on the basis of his convictions--and won in spite or more likely because of this. Democrats had no convictions beyond the end goal of winning, and therefore quite properly lost. No party deserved to lose more than the Democrats did in these past two elections, and unless they make changes, they stand to lose many more.
I hope that the Democrats don't read her, because she has definately given them the WHY of why they lost, and it could give them the knowledge to correct it.....then again they probably wouldn't believe it anyway.

After all, if the goal of the immigrant is to join Dutch society, shouldn't they proove that they have at least a good start on that intent?
The U.S. has had a similar test for years...I know, as I had to take it to qualify for Naturalization. If your intent is to become a citizen of a different country for the chance of making a better life for yourself than from whence you came, I don't see that this is any great hurdle to overcome, in fact it better prepares you for your new life to come.
Of course, the usual suspects will cry foul, after all, what right does a sovereign nation have to protect itself from those who just wish to enter to foment trouble?
Watch for the groups that protest the loudest and you will have a handy index of the enemy.

And unlike our whining nabobs of negativity
members of the Left Aisle, they know how to express their gratitude.
I wish to express my condolences to the family of LCpl. Lance Klein on their great loss, and I want to thank the Ishmail family for their great kindness to a family in the midst of their grief, you all make America the great country that it is.

Other than the fact that they were caught fighting instead of surrendering?
Although, as the details are still sketchy..... it just may be that the Islamofacists were surprised when their brave French recruits exhibited the French prediliction in battle situations:
Ahmed:" Allah Akbar! Though we die, we die in Jihad. Allah be praised!
Rene bin dum: "DIE?!? Sacre Bleu!, they never said DIE in the Mosque de Paree!"
Ahmed: "be brave, you are a soldier of Allah, they kill your body, but your spirit lives on in Paradise, remembered forever in glory by the rest of us."
Rene:"Ahmed, could I borrow your handkerchief?"
Ahmed: "Shoot! Shoot at the Infidel Marines for the greater glory of Allah!"
Rene: "um...those guys look awful angry...maybe a truce for a Cognac and Brie peace session?"
Ahmed: *charging up Marine position*"Alllaaahhhhhh.......silence following a the sharp crack of a sniper rifle...
Rene: "Ahmed? ...er Ahmed?".... *throws down weapon, takes up white cloth*
"Parle vou Francee American?" I do not know thees men, I was... taking a tour." "and they forced me into theese clothes and threw a rifle in my hands...and grenades....and a rocket launc...Your not buying eet are you?
Marine: "Hell No Frenchy"
Rene: "Geneva Convention!"" French Consulate!" "Police Brutality!"(Rene had spent a summer in California) "I surrender!."
Marine:*disappointed look on his face* *Muttering that General Mattis was right, some people are just fun to shoot!* "ok Frenchy, up against the wall and spread them".....

Now the breeze is starting to strengthen in Saudi Arabia. It is just a gentle waft at present to be sure, but considering the rigidity of the Saudi Regime, any progress forward could be considered a miracle.
And this is coming internally, so there are no doubts about "imperialism" or whatever term the Moonbats are using in their anti-American meme's this week

Here's the story in a nutshell:
Citizens of Al Mudhiryiah (a small town in the "death triangle") were subjected to an attack by several militants today who were trying to punish the residents of this small town for voting in the election last Sunday.
The citizens responded and managed to stop the attack, kill 5 of the attackers, wounded 8 and burned their cars.
3 citizens were injured during the fire exchange. The Shiekh of the tribe to whom the 3 wounded citizens belong demanded more efforts from the government to stop who he described as "Salafis".
The Iraqi citizens have a new feeling of nationalism, and they aren't going to let a group of Islamofacist thugs take it away from them. Note that this incident occurred right in the center of the region where the insurgents Islamothugs hold the greatest sway. The people are taking their country back.
If they can do it and establish a representative form of government, those 1500+ American soldiers will not have died in vain.

One evening a grandson was talking to his grandmother about current events. The grandson asked his grandmother what she thought about the shootings at schools, the computer age, and just things in general.
The Grandma replied, "Well, let me think a minute, I was born, before television, penicillin, polio shots, frozen foods, Xerox, contact lenses, Frisbees and the pill. There was no radar, credit cards, laser beams or ball-point pens.Man had not invented pantyhose, air conditioners, dishwashers, clothes dryers, and the clothes were hung out to dry in the fresh air and man hadn't yet walked on the moon.
Your Grandfather and I got married first-and then lived together. Every family had a father and a mother. Until I was 25, I called every man older than I, 'Sir'- and after I turned 25, I still called policemen and every man with a title, "Sir.' We were before gay-rights, computer- dating, dual careers, daycare centers, and group therapy.
Our lives were governed by the Ten Commandments, good judgment, and common sense. We were taught to know the difference between right and wrong and to stand up and take responsibility for our actions.
Serving your country was a privilege; living in this country was a bigger privilege. We thought fast food was what people ate during Lent. Having a meaningful relationship meant getting along with your cousins. Draft dodgers were people who closed their front doors when the evening breeze started. Time-sharing meant time the family spent together in the evenings and weekends-not purchasing condominiums.
We never heard of FM radios, tape decks, CDs, electric typewriters, yogurt, or guys wearing earrings. We listened to the Big Bands, Jack Benny, and the President's speeches on our radios. And I don't ever remember any kid blowing his brains out listening to Tommy Dorsey. If you saw anything with 'Made in Japan ' on it, it was junk. The term 'making out' referred to how you did on your school exam.Pizza Hut, McDonald's, and instant coffee were unheard of.
We had 5 & 10-cent stores where you could actually buy things for 5 and 10 cents. Ice-cream cones, phone calls, rides on a streetcar, and a Pepsi were all a nickel. And if you didn't want to splurge, you could spend your nickel on enough stamps to mail 1 letter and 2 postcards.
You could buy a new Chevy Coupe for $600 but who could afford one? Too bad, because gas was 11 cents a gallon. In my day, "grass" was mowed, "coke" was a cold drink, "pot" was something your mother cooked in, and "rock music" was your grandmother's lullaby."Aids" were helpers in the Principal's office," chip" meant a piece of wood, "hardware" was found in a hardware store, and "software" wasn't even a word.
And we were the last generation to actually believe that a lady needed a husband to have a baby. No wonder people call us "old and confused" and say there is a generation gap.....and how old do you think I am ???.....
I bet you have this old lady in mind...you are in for a shock! Read on to see -- pretty scary if you think about it and pretty sad at the same time.
This Woman would be only 58 years old!

Seems all the doom and gloomers (ie Democrats) can be shown to be wrong yet again. If the current estimates hold true, we will have reached the same level of employment that we had when President Bush first took office.
I'm sure some of my Leftist readers will come back with "whats so great about being where we were 4 years ago? The fact is that if the figures hold true, January will be the 17th straight month of growth.
The fact is that this happened despite a recession; a terrorist act that cost us at least $150B in losses to the economy; and a costly war. AND that the Left side were saying that, because of the tax cuts of the first administration, government would founder in an ever increasing sea of red due to a loss of revenue to the federal government. Yet, as always with tax cuts, the real revenue coming in to the federal coffers rose last year. Now it's up to the President to start to cut federal expenditures to match the tax cuts.
As I said in an earlier post, the deficit has already started to drop. Slowly to be sure, but dropping. IF President Bush can make a good start on cutting back Federal expenditures, and his succesor continues that mindset, we could see surplusses again by the middle of the successors first term. To reverse a multi trillion dollar deficit to a surplus in the space of 6 years would be the cherry on President Bush's legacy.
Whether or not this can or will be done is still dependant on many factors outside any one person's controll, but I still have hope.

Now it's been revealed that Linda Fasulo, an NBC and MSNBC corrospondant was on the payroll of the UN lobby.
Keep in mind that Williams is a pundit. He is paid for giving his opinion. You KNOW from what side of the aisle he approached issues from.
While He WAS remiss in not revealing a fiduciary connection with a program, it's doubtfull that he would have had any different opinion about that program had he not been paid for producing information literature for it.
Ms. Fasulo, on the other hand, is supposed to be a straight news reporter, and therin lies a world of difference. A reporter is supposed to just present the facts of a story, as honestly and thoroughly as possible, with as little bias to any idiology or organization as possible.
It is apparent from her book An Insider's Guide to the U.N., that Ms Fasulo's opinions have been bought. Incidentally, the funding from the book was supplied by Ted Turner's U.N. Foundation and Better World Campaign and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, both of which are Pro-U.N. bodies.
I'm waiting to hear this revelation to be as loudly touted as the Williams revelation by the MSM......I just won't be holding my breath for it to happen.

While each one of those 1500 lives were more precious than we could ever hope to repay the sacrifice of, it is a stark reality that "freedom is never free".
1 to 5333 is still a painful cost, but one that freedom demanded, and lower than it could have been.
It makes it all the more difficult for me when I hear such "scions" of American government like Senator ""Splash" Kennedy and John "I was in Viet Nam.."Kerry spout their doom and gloom anti-americanisms, to not just desire to place a well aimed round between their eyes.
The answer to the question "was it worth it" won't be known for quite some time yet. IF democracy takes tenious root in the M.E., my answer would be YES, but if we follow the lead of the above mentioned appeasers of terrorism, it just may yet be that they died for a noble ideal negated by our own fifth column. That would be a shame that all of us must bear for allowing the appeasers license to conduct their campaign of partisian hatred.
